# Summary

This step by step guide first explained what particulate background is and what sources it may originate from.

Subsequently we demonstrated how to assess background particulates in the various sources, primarily the growth medium.

Fortunately, particulate background is often negligible. We provided a simple rule-of-thumb to distinguish between negligible and non-negligible background.
