# Experimental feature

{% hint style="warning" %}
An experimental feature may change, break, or be removed in a future [software version](/encyclopedia/software/bactobox-r-software-changelog.md).
{% endhint %}

The [Software](/encyclopedia/software.md) may contain experimental features. An experimental feature can be anything from a new [page in Access](/encyclopedia/software/access/pages.md) to a new [classification rule set](/encyclopedia/software/file-formats/crs-file.md).

We make experimental features available to everyone to test market interest and gather early\
feedback.

We clearly mark all experimental features in the user interface with a prominent alert box. This way, you can quickly identify an experimental feature.

{% hint style="success" %}

### Tell us what you think

If you use an experimental feature [we would like your feedback](mailto:customersupport@sbtinstruments.com). What works? What doesn't work?

Any feedback is welcome.
{% endhint %}

## Experimental feature FAQ

### Why can't I find experimental feature X in the latest software update?

#### Pre-release software

The help center may mention an experimental feature that is part of [pre-release software](/encyclopedia/software/bactobox-r-software-changelog/pre-release-software.md). We offer pre-release software to selected users.

{% hint style="success" %}

## Want to test pre-release software?

[Reach out to us](mailto:customersupport@sbtinstruments.com)! Make sure to mention if there is a specific [experimental feature](/encyclopedia/software/bactobox-r-software-changelog/experimental-feature.md) that you are interested in.
{% endhint %}

#### The experimental feature got removed

The other possibility is that we *removed* the experimental feature in the latest software version. E.g., if the experimental feature got negative feedback.

While this has not happened yet, it may happen in the future.
