# Shipping and storage

Shut your BactoBox® down safely, pack it for shipping, and bring it back into use.

## Store for up to a week

1. Run a [Clean](/more/how-to-guides/clean-your-setup.md).
2. Power off your BactoBox® with the rocker switch.

Leave the tubing kit in the disinfection vial and the flow cell in place.

## Store for more than a week

1. Run a [Clean](/more/how-to-guides/clean-your-setup.md).
2. Power off your BactoBox® with the rocker switch.
3. Disconnect the [tubing kit](/item-register/bactobox-r/bactobox-r/in-the-box/tubing-kit.md) and put it in an [empty vial](/item-register/individual-items/empty-vial.md).
4. Put the [inlet-outlet cover](/item-register/bactobox-r/bactobox-r/in-the-box/inlet-outlet-cover.md) (the grey protective cap) over the inlet and outlet of your BactoBox®.
5. Store your BactoBox® in its original box, with its [accessories](/item-register/accessories/dilution-dispenser.md) if possible.

You can leave the flow cell in place.

## Ship your BactoBox®

[Contact us](https://sbtinstruments.com/contact) before you send it to SBT.

1. Follow steps 1 to 4 of Store for more than a week.
2. Put your BactoBox® in its original box, then in a padded outer box. The original box alone does not protect it enough in transit.

You can leave the flow cell in place.

## Bring it back into use

After storage for more than a week, or after shipping:

1. Remove the inlet-outlet cover and [install the tubing kit](/getting-started/installation/install-tubing-kit.md).
2. [Power on](/getting-started/installation/power-on.md) your BactoBox®.
3. Run a [Deep clean](/more/how-to-guides/deep-clean-your-setup.md).
4. Run a [Clean](/more/how-to-guides/clean-your-setup.md) with a disinfection vial.
5. Run a [QC test](/maintenance/qc-test.md).

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the following URL with the `ask` and `goal` query parameters:

```
GET https://help.sbtinstruments.com/more/service-and-support/shipping-and-storage.md?ask=<question>&goal=<user_goal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is what the user is ultimately trying to achieve, the reason they need the answer. Sharing it helps GitBook give you a better, more relevant answer. A goal is most helpful when it describes the outcome the user wants rather than restating the question. For example, with `ask=how do I create an API token`, a goal like `automate deployments from our CI pipeline` lets GitBook tailor the answer to that use case.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
