# DIY dilution vial

This page teaches you how to assemble and use the [dilution dispenser](https://help.sbtinstruments.com/encyclopedia/item-register/accessories/dilution-dispenser). You use it to make a DIY[^1] dilution vial with SBT [dilution liquid](https://help.sbtinstruments.com/encyclopedia/item-register/vials-flasks-and-liquids/dilution-liquid-5-l).

## Consider the SBT dilution vial (bundled as `DV01`)

If possible, we recommend that you use the SBT [dilution vial](https://help.sbtinstruments.com/encyclopedia/item-register/vials-flasks-and-liquids/dilution-vial) (bundled as `DV01`) instead. This avoids many of the [pitfalls with DIY dilution vials](https://help.sbtinstruments.com/troubleshooting/qualification-fails/dilution-vial-is-outside..).
